Martial Arts Flooring

Specific Martial Arts Flooring should be used when practicing martial arts. There are many different types of martial arts in practice today to include Aikido, Jujutsu, Tai Kwan Do, Kung Fu, Judo and Karate to name just a few. All of these can be practiced at over a thousand dojos around the world and it is important to stay safe while in learning. Most of theses dojos have mats and other safety precautions in place and it is best not to practice in those that do not. One of the most important things to look for before choosing a dojo to practice in is that they have a martial arts floor in place.

Martial Arts Flooring are made from a variety of different types of foams to absorb the impact of falls that come with the practice of such sports. Martial Arts are considered to be is a high injury risk sport so it is important to have a floor that can absorb impact from falls or at least soften the fall. These special floors offer this and are available from ½” to about 1 ½”. Martial arts that consist of fast footwork such as Tai Kwan Do or Kung Fu should not have a mat any thicker than 1’ and those with slower footwork such as Judo or Karate should not have a floor thicker that ½ inch. The importance of Martial Arts Flooring is to provide maximum protection without taking away from mobility.

Martial Arts Flooring is important in any arena that martial arts is practiced. It helps prevent injury and provides for a safe place to practice martial arts. There are several companies that offer this type of floor and you can find them on the Internet at several sports flooring web sites. They will help you choose the right flooring for your particular martial art as well as help you determine how much flooring you will need. Visit your favorite sporting good sites to find the Martial Arts Flooring that fits your specific needs.
